  • We welcome Yasmin Koppen (University of Leipzig) at the Department of Religious Studies. During her stay, she will teach a course on "Illness, Healing, Medicine: Religion in Dealing with Epidemics."
  • The Department is pleased to welcome David Václavík (University of Brno). While at the Department this semester, he will be conducting a course on "Religion in the USA."
  • The 23rd workshop as part of the Religious Studies Workshop Series was entitled "Focus Group Interviews: Challenges and Advantages" took place on 18 November. Further information on the workshop and the series can be found here.
  • We welcome Jessica Albrecht (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) at the Department of Religious Studies. During her stay, she will teach a course on "Feminism and Religion(s)".
  • The Department of Religious Studies was hosting an event on 11 November as part of the series "Quo vadis? Career paths for Religious Studies graduates", in which graduates of Religious Studies talked about their professional careers and exchanged ideas with students.   • On 3 November, the new permanent exhibition entitled "Zeitgeschichte-Werkstatt [Contemporary History Laboratory]" opened at the museumkrems. The exhibition was created under the academic direction of Dirk Schuster and deals with Krems during the Nazi regime. You can find more information about the exhibition here.
  • The Working Group on Religions and Politics within the German Association for the Study of Religions is hosting an online discussion with Prof. Helmut Zander (University of Fribourg) on 12 December. The discussion will focus on Prof. Zander's latest publication entitled "Religion und Politik in Christentum und Islam: Überlegungen zu kulturellen Grammatiken, Pfaddispositionen und Wahrscheinlichkeiten [Religion and Politics in Christianity and Islam: Reflections on Cultural Grammars, Path Dispositions and Probabilities]." Further information on the event and the registration can be found here.
  • The religion and ethics programme "In Focus" on Ö1 broadcasted a feature on the topic of animal ethics. The conversations in this feature – including Prof. Birgit Heller – have taken place during the conference "Animal Ethics and Religions", organised by the ÖGRW. The feature can be listened to here.
  • The University of Vienna's bulletin has published the new curriculum for the Master's program in Study of Religions (Version 2025), which will come into effect on 1 October 2025. In addition, the two new extension curricula, "Study of Religions: An Introduction" and "Study of Religions: The Major Religions," were published as well in the bulletin and will also come into effect on 1 October 2025.
