Research

Research lies at the heart of academic life. The Department of Religious Studies is the most research-intensive and productive unit of its kind in Austria. It is a major international contributor to a variety of research areas within the field of the academic study of religion. The teaching staff, postdoctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, and M.A. students annually deliver an array of research-related outputs published by international peer-reviewed journals and publishers.

The Department also hosts several externally-funded research projects, covering exciting themes ranging from works like energy healing practices and the alternative-religious discourse on birth to projects related to Austria and Vienna, like the Buddhist Peace Pagoda in Vienna, the Korean Christian Churches in Austria, and Naikan in Austria.
