Zsuzsanna Szugyiczki is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Szeged (Hungary), where she also received her Ph.D. (2023) and M.A. (2017). Her doctoral thesis was on "Mysticism Beyond Time: A Comparative Study of Traditional vs. Modern Mysticism." She teaches courses on medieval religious history, contemporary theories of religious studies, and philosophy of religion. Her research focuses on contemporary and medieval mysticism, as well as the works of John of the Cross and Thomas Merton. In addition to her academic duties, she is a lecturer in the "Let's Teach for Hungary! She trains and supervises university students who work with primary school children from small towns. While at the Department of Religious Studies in the summer semester 2025, she co-ordinates a course on "Mysticism Across Religions."
