Sarah Perez holds a B.A. in German Literature and Philosophy and an M.A. (2018) in Religion and Ethics from the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel. She received her Ph.D. (2024) in Religious Studies from the University of Bern. Her research focuses on early modern pamphlets containing accounts of religious experiences. With a focus on deathbed visions and angelic apparitions, she analyses the connections between mediumship, politics, and religion. She is also interested in contemporary spiritual phenomena on the internet, with a focus on creativity, transformation, and playfulness within the alternative religious milieu. While at the Department in the summer semester 2024, she co-ordinated a course on "Religious Studies Source Work on Visions of the Afterlife from the Middle Ages to the Present Day."
