Robert Czyżykowski is Assistant Professor in Religious Studies at the Institute for the Study of Religions at Jagiellonian University, Kraków (Poland). He holds an M.A. (2002) and Ph.D. (2011) in Religious Studies from Jagiellonian University. Currently, he teaches courses on Hinduism and Buddhism as well as on issues of religious experience. He published two books and various articles about religions of Bengal, Tantra, and mystical experience. He conducted research projects funded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2009–2011) and the Polish National Science Centre (2014–2018). Recent publications include papers on "The Problem of kundalinī in the Context of Yogic Aspects of the Bengali Tantric Vaishnava (Sahajiyā) Tradition" (Religions of South Asia, 2019) and "The Mystical World of the Body in the Bengali Tantric Work Nigūḍhārthaprakāśāvalī" (Religions, 2020). His main research interests are Indian Religions (specifically the religions of Bengal), Tantric traditions, the human body in religious narrative and ritual, anthropology of religion, Indic new religious movements, religious experience, and Religious Studies methodology. While at the Department in the 2021 summer semester, Professor Czyżykowski co-ordinates a course on "Introducing Tantrism."
