IASP-Fellow (2024–2027)

Muhammad Adiz Wasisto is an IASP (Indonesia-Austria Scholarship Programme) Fellow (2024–2027) at the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Vienna. He holds an LL.B. (2017) from Gadjah Mada University and an M.A. (2020) in Development Studies (Social Justice Perspectives) from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Erasmus University, the Netherlands. His doctoral research investigates the historical formation of the messianic and millenarian idea of Ratu Adil (Just King) within Javanese political thought. His broader interests include religion in Indonesia, especially its millenarian traditions and their political implications, as well as new religious movements, Indonesian esoteric traditions, and issues of Islamisation and schismatic developments.
