Jakub Bohuszewicz is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Religious Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. (2015) in Religious Studies from Jagiellonian University. In his doctoral thesis examined possession trance in Catholicism and Vodun cults from a biological-cognitive perspective (Od opętania do rytuału: Pojęcie i praktyka transu w kultach vodun i katolicyzmie). He is an anthropologist of religion working on Siberian traditional religions, the history of Russian research on shamanism, and anthropological theories of ritual. He is currently working on constructing a model of the relationship between shamanism and interclan warfare in Siberia. While at the Department in the summer semester 2025, he co-ordinates a course on "Introducing Siberian Shamanism."
