Research

Doing research lies at the heart of academic life. The Department of Religious Studies is the most research-intensive and productive unit of its kind in Austria, and a major international contributor to a variety of research areas within the field of the academic study of religion. The teaching staff, postdoctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, and M.A. students annually deliver an array of research-related outputs published by international peer-reviewed journals and publishers.

The Department is also hosting several externally-funded research projects, covering excited themes, from work on a critical edition of Nietzsche's The Gay Science to projects related to Austria and Vienna, like the Buddhist Peace Pagoda in Vienna, the Korean Christian Churches in Austria, and Sufism and virtual culture in Vienna.
