    The Master's programme "Study of Religions" at the University of Vienna is aimed at students who want to grasp the diverse phenomenon of religion and related discourses in a systematic, comparative, and religious-historical way from a non-denominational, cultural-scientific perspective, while taking into account the interdisciplinary nature of the study of religions.

    The aim of the Master's program "Study of Religions" at the University of Vienna is to impart sound knowledge of the academic study of religions through critical reflection. The resulting awareness and discourse competence enables a deep understanding of the world's religious and ideological diversity, (inter-)cultural dynamics, and (global) social implications. These can be researched, analysed, translated, and systematised as well as in practice-related to extensive religious science theory formation and an interdisciplinary catalogue of methods. In the courses of the Master's programme, students deal with content, theories, and methods that correspond to the current state of research in the respective field. The Master's programme "Study of Religions" serves to deepen the knowledge, skills, and competence acquired in Bachelor's degree programmes, Diploma studies, or the Extended Curricula in the Study of Religions . The language of instruction is German. However, the Department of the Study of Religions also offers courses in English.
