Codruţa Sîntionean is Assistant Professor at the Department of Asian Languages and Literatures at Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. After studying in Japan and South Korea she received her Ph.D. in Literature from the Faculty of Letters at Babeş-Bolyai University in 2008. Prior she obtained a B.A. in Japanese and Romanian (2003) and an M.A. in History of Ideas (2004). She has been in charge of the programme of Korean Language and Literature since its creation in 2008. Her academic interests include Korean heritage and Korean history. She has published several peer-reviewed articles about heritage management practices in postcolonial South Korea and is currently writing a cultural history of premodern Korea. Professor Sîntionean is the co-editor of a forthcoming volume dedicated to invented traditions in Korea, together with Andrew Jackson, CedarBough T. Saeji, and Remco Breuker (University of Hawaiʻi Press). While at the Department in the summer semester 2019 she co-ordinates a course on "Religious Heritage in East Asia."
