Alisha Saikia is a visiting doctoral researcher in Religious Studies, originally based at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, as a Monbukagakushō Fellow. She holds a B.A. in Sociology (2010), an M.A. in East Asian Studies (2012), and an M.Phil. in Japanese Studies (2014), all from the University of Delhi, India. Her current research focuses on the proliferation of mascots/yuruchara in Japan and their relationship with Japanese folk religion and beliefs. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and singing, having already released two albums in her home state of Assam in India.
